ProfiLingua 2025
On November 6, the Faculty of Arts hosted another year of the traditional ProfiLingua conference, which members of the Department of Philological Studies have been organizing since 2004. This year, the conference was subtitled "Challenges for the Contemporary World" and provided a broad thematic platform for experts in the fields of linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, and didactics. Among the participants were, in addition to domestic presenters, guests from Charles University, the University of Ostrava, the University of Hradec Králové, and the University of South Bohemia. There were also contributions from students of Master's and Doctoral study programmes. The plenary lecture was given by Doc. PhDr. Petr Chalupský, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Education at Charles University, on the literary topic "Towards Relational Thinking: The Ethics of Care and Contemporary British Fiction." As is customary, the theme of multilingualism permeated the entire conference, and there was also a paper dedicated to the relationship between language and artificial intelligence. In addition to its professional contribution, this year's ProfiLingua also provided a welcome opportunity for a friendly meeting of philologists from various corners of the Czech Republic.
